Sharyn Jones is an associate professor of Anthropology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.  Her research interests include:  indigenous history of tropical island chiefdoms, marine resource exploitation, hierarchy, foodways, political economy, ethnoarchaeology, zooarchaeology, and gender.  Geographically, her research is focused on Fiji and Polynesia and the Caribbean Islands. She has conducted academic and contract archaeology in North America, Japan, Micronesia, Hawaii, Fiji, and the Caribbean.  Take a moment to explore the site and learn more.
